Will there be a place for visitors to park their cars? |
Yes, a small parking area will be established from Carson Road at
the south-east corner of the cornfield closest to Carter Road (see
map). |
 |
During
what hours will the park be open? |
The park is open to visitors from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm, or later
if they are in attendance at an organized activity approved by the
Superintendent of Recreation. |
| |
What
is a passive recreation park? |
The Carson
Road Woods is designated a "passive recreation park." A
passive recreation park is a park for hiking and walking. It is a
park that does not have facilities for "active" recreation
like tennis or soccer fields. |
 |
What
activities are prohibited? |
As a passive
recreation park, the following activities are not permitted: Hunting,
Camping, Making Fires, Driving any type of Motor Vehicle, and Consumption
of Alcoholic Beverages. |
 |
Are
there walking trails? |
Yes, there
are unpaved farm roads around the fields and orchards, which are shown
on the map page. There are also deer paths
through parts of the woods. Trails have not yet been marked, but this
is planned for 2003, after the Washington Crossing Audubon society
completes its survey of the Park's wildlife. |
| |
Will
agriculture continue on the property? |
Yes. Part
of the funding for the land parcel came from a state agency interested
in preserving agricultural land in New Jersey. About 30 acres will
continue to be farmed (the far left hand field on the map) and additional
land may be rented to local growers as well. |
